How to Use the Pre-Order Charts for Market Research

01

Set Filters to Review Launch Schedules and Market Availability

  • Focus on your target category and platform: Select a country or region and category. For the App Store, use the officially listed Expected Release Date to review products scheduled to launch within the next 30–90 days. For Google Play, review apps sorted by pre-registration listing update date in descending order to focus on products whose store listings were updated most recently.
  • Review market availability: See where the same app is available for pre-order or pre-registration. Understand which international markets competing apps are preparing to enter and identify potential competitors in advance.
02

Analyze Store Listing Creatives and Compare Product Messaging

  • Examine competitors' visual assets: Open each competing app's details page to review its app icon, screenshot layout, promotional graphics, and core product interface. Compare the features, use cases, and gameplay elements highlighted in the first three screenshots.
  • Compare core features and gameplay positioning: Analyze leading competitors' titles, subtitles, and full app descriptions to understand which user needs, product features, or gameplay mechanics they emphasize before launch, then identify opportunities for differentiated positioning.
03

Add Apps to Monitoring and Build a Competitor Watchlist

  • Add apps to Monitoring: Once you identify pre-release competitors to follow, click “Add to Monitoring” at the top of each app details page. You can view tracked competitors on the Monitoring page.
  • Track metadata changes: If a competitor updates its app icon, screenshots, promotional graphics, or description during the pre-release period, use “Event Details” in Monitoring to compare the previous and current versions.
04

Enable the Daily Email Digest and Track Post-Launch Performance

  • Enable the daily email digest: Turn on email summaries in Monitoring to receive a consolidated daily overview of changes across tracked apps without checking each one manually.
  • Continue tracking performance after launch: After an app is officially released, review its available ranking data. Once the following month's market-wide download and revenue data has been processed, evaluate its estimated market scale and performance.

Data Sources and Ranking Methodology

Appark collects publicly available App Store pre-order and Google Play pre-registration information in real time from more than 40 major countries and regions worldwide:

  • App Store sorting:Results are sorted in ascending order by the officially listed Expected Release Date, making it easy to review upcoming launches from nearest to farthest.
  • Google Play sorting:Because Google Play does not provide an equivalent expected release date in this dataset, results are sorted in descending order by the date the publisher last updated the pre-registration store listing, helping you identify recent listing changes.
  • Clear data limitations: The Pre-Order Charts show public launch timing and store listing information for apps that have not yet been released. They do not include pre-order or pre-registration counts. After an app launches and monthly market data has been processed, use Top Charts and Downloads & Revenue Charts to further evaluate its long-term performance using available rankings and download and revenue estimates.
