Track App Store Rankings by Market and Category

Compare the latest Top Free, Top Paid, and Top Grossing rankings in one view. Filter by country, category, or date, review paid-app prices and in-app purchase indicators, and identify notable chart movements. Appark updates chart snapshots approximately every three hours and connects selected apps to deeper comparison and monitoring workflows.

Why Use Appark for App Store Top Charts?

  • Compare three chart signals side by side: Top Free highlights current chart visibility among free apps, Top Paid covers apps that require payment before download, and Top Grossing provides a relative store-commerce signal. Together, they offer more context than any single ranking, without revealing exact downloads, revenue, or profit.
  • Review paid-app prices and IAP availability: Visible prices in Top Paid help benchmark price points used by ranked tools, professional apps, and premium games. The In-App Purchases Indicator shows when store metadata lists purchases or subscriptions, but it does not prove that users are buying or that IAP is the primary business model.
  • Distinguish sustained leadership from short-term movement: Consecutive Days at No. 1 shows how long an app has held the top position within the selected market, category, and chart type. Rank Change and historical snapshots help identify movements worth investigating further.
  • Continue from rankings to app and publisher research: Open App Details to review store creatives, ratings, version history, In-App Events where available, and estimated performance data. Publisher Details shows other apps associated with the publisher. Selected apps can also be added to App Comparison or the Monitoring List.

How to Analyze App Store Rankings?

01

Select the market, category, and date

  • Select market, category, and date: Choose a country or region, then narrow the view with the applicable App Store category for apps or games. Use the latest snapshot for current research, or select a historical date to view the final chart snapshot collected on that date. Historical selection does not display every intraday movement. Appark covers more than 40 major App Store markets.
02

Compare Top Free, Top Paid, and Top Grossing

  • Compare the three charts: Review Top Free alongside Top Grossing to see whether chart visibility and store-based consumer spending signals are both strong. A gap between the charts can have several explanations, including acquisition timing, advertising-led monetization, off-store transactions, lower store spending, or differences in chart timing. Use Top Paid and visible prices to benchmark ranked paid apps, not to define an exact pricing ceiling.
03

Investigate changes around the ranking movement

  • Investigate ranking movement: Open App Details to review icons, screenshots, descriptions, ratings, release notes, version history, and In-App Events where available. These changes may coincide with ranking movement and can support a research hypothesis, but they do not establish the cause. Open Publisher Details or Publisher Rankings to examine the publisher's wider iOS portfolio.
04

Compare, monitor, and export research sets

  • Compare, monitor, and export: Add selected apps to App Comparison to review available estimated download, estimated revenue, and ranking trends across products and periods. Use the Monitoring List to follow version and store-listing changes through Event Details. Export to Excel supports offline ranking analysis under plan-based export limits. For market-scale estimates, use Downloads & Revenue Rankings.

App Store Chart Data and Ranking Rules

Appark collects and archives publicly available positions from Apple's official Top Free, Top Paid, and Top Grossing charts. These are relative store rankings, not Appark-generated estimates of exact downloads, revenue, profit, subscriptions, or conversion. Apple does not publicly disclose every factor or the exact formula used to calculate its charts.

  • Update frequency and Rank Change: Chart snapshots are updated approximately every three hours. Rank Change compares the current position with the final recorded position from the previous day. A positive green value means the app Moved Up, a negative red value means it Moved Down, and a dash means no recorded change. When a historical date is selected, Appark displays the final snapshot collected for that date.
  • Consecutive Days at No. 1 and IAP: Consecutive Days at No. 1 counts the uninterrupted days an app has remained first within the selected store, country or region, category, and chart type. It does not mean the app ranked first globally or across every category. The yellow In-App Purchases Indicator means that store metadata shows purchases or subscriptions are offered; it does not measure their usage or revenue.
  • Exported data fields: Exported data may include Rank, App Name, App ID, Unified App ID, Developer Name, Developer ID, App Store, Country or Region, App Category, Category Name, Rank Change, Secondary Chart, Secondary Chart Rank, First Release Date, Last Updated, Store URL, In-App Purchases, and Appark Tags.
